This winter, need something to do? On Thursday nights from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. The Village of Sloan will
introduce our first Citizen Academy. The Citizen Academy provides understanding into village
government. For more information on a start date, please view Message Board located at Village Hall or

Prior planning for winter safety involves preparing your home and vehicle for everyday emergencies. For
your home ensure dryer and furnace vents are clear of snow to prevent carbon monoxide buildup. Add
insulation, caulking, and weather stripping to your home to keep out the cold. Install and test smoke
alarms and carbon monoxide detectors, ensuring they have battery backups.
Create an emergency kit by assembling non-perishable food, water, first-aid kit, flashlights, extra
batteries, and any necessary medications or baby supplies. Winter driving kits for your vehicle can
include jumper cables, blankets, flashlights, bottled water, and non-perishable snacks.
Snowplow permits are required and help ensure that those plowing public areas are responsible,
licensed, and insured. A list of those permitted will be available at Village Hall as they come in.
